DISCOVER THE NILE FROM CAIRO TO ASWAN. 14-nights from Cairo to Luxor/Aswan & vice versa on board boutique Nile cruiser Alexander the Great

“Alexander the Great – Yacht on the Nile” announcing that it will re-launch its popular ‘long cruise’ that takes passengers on a spectacular 14-night journey from the Egyptian capital, Cairo to Luxor, the gateway to the Valley of the Kings and Queens and vice versa.

It’s been 15 years since this ‘long cruise’ operated and in a bid to encourage travellers to experience the full highlights of Egypt on one long cruise it is being re-launched, with full support of the Egyptian Minister of Tourism.

The 14-night ‘long cruise’ will be available on selected dates in June, July and August 2012, on board the luxury boutique yacht Alexander the Great.

Highlights include:

  • Driving to the Ancient Kingdom of Memphis on the edge of the Western Desert
  • Visiting the iconic Pyramids of Giza, including Cheop’s Pyramid, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
  • Visiting the Tombs of Beni Hassan with its 39 tombs dating back to the 11th & 12th Dynasty
  • Crossing the West Bank of the Nile to visit the Necropolis of Ancient Thebes, Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens including Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
  • A stop at Aswan to visit the Temple of Philae, the High Dam, the Granite Quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk
  • Visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Abu Simbel known as the ‘Nubian Monuments’ and home to the two temples built by Ramses II

In the capital guests will get the chance to see the main sights of Cairo, including the famous Egyptian Museum, from the time of Egypt’s Pharaohs, to the area known as Old Cairo with its Coptic Churches and old Jewish Synagogue.

There is also the opportunity to enjoy the buzz of the bazaar with time for shopping in the medieval bazaars of Khan-El-Khalili, where bargains can be found on jewellery, spices and hand tooled leather items.

Nile cruising is also about relaxing and enjoying the scenery, sights and sounds along one of the world’ great rivers on board a luxury vessel. Guests will be treated to some of the best accommodation and service on the Nile on board the Alexander the Great, which was refurbished last year. With 30 luxurious air-conditioned cabins all with Nile views and facilities including a pool, salon, spa with Turkish bath, Jacuzzi and a full concierge service guests are treated to typical boutique hotel style whilst on board.

The first sailing will take place on 18 June from Luxor to Cairo.

Other departure dates include 16 July and 13 August Luxor to Cairo and 2 & 30 July, and 27 August Cairo to Luxor.
